A popular myth that says if you go fast enough through a speed scamera, it won't react quickly enough to take your picture.

Of course, that would be a horribly irresponsible thing to do on a public highway, so tests were carried out on the track. Stig donned its helmet and put its foot down in the name of science...

Settle that pub argument - find out if you can go too fast to be caught on scamera. All in the interests of science, you understand!

Stig: fearless behind the wheel if accompanied by the sounds of the lounge. As ever, best you don't ask why.

Putting the urban myth to the test!

1st run in a Civic Type-R - 129mph and guess what?

Nicked!

The test consisted of 3 runs:

Run 1. A Honda Civic Type-R. It was clocked doing 129mph!

Run 2. This time something with bigger gonads was required - Mercedes CL55. This run saw the car clocked at 148mph. You'd get one hell of a ban for that! But the scamera wasn't fooled.

Run 3. Still something more powerful was needed if the scamera was to be beaten!

Roll in the TVR Tuscan S.

Run 3 - TVR Tuscan S - 171+mph...

YAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!

The scamera was beaten!

Now if you want to ensure you don't get clocked breaking the speed limit you must ensure you pass the scamera at.....wait for it......171mph!

At this speed it doesn't even go off - you're travelling so fast it doesn't see you!
